The Newspaper As a Form of Media

According to the online article, The History of Mass Media in America, the newspaper is the oldest form of media. As the internet is used more and more as a quicker choice to obtain information, the use of newspapers have begun to decline. I have personally seen the aftereffects of the decline of the newspaper in my own family. My brother in law lost his job at the newspaper company that he was employed at for almost 20 years. He lost his job because the number of people that subscribed to the newspaper had declined so much until they could no longer keep the same number of employees on the payroll. He was forced to either relocate to another branch of the company which was almost 100 miles away- or to look for work elsewhere. After a year of joblessness, he has finally found work.
Despite the decline in those that subscribe to newspapers, they are very helpful in providing interesting information in the way of commentaries and opinions that are available to be read by the general public. I have found newspapers to be helpful when I have been interviewed by a reporter. The information helps to spread information to the general public and allows someone to save the information to read it at another time. I have even cut out interviews to be scanned and used for my own media kit in some cases.
I hope that newspapers will continue to be a form of media that is used in the near future. It has a lot to offer for consumers in the way of coupons, car purchase inserts, sports inserts, and everyday living inserts that can be read in the comfort of the home and whenever an individual chooses to read it.

Radio As a Form of Social Media

Radio is a form of media that contains such forms as radio commentaries, talk shows, music station programming, and music programs that are local and national. Radio is a form of media that has been in existence for many years, and is helpful because it is able to give information to the public quickly for people who may be at home, in their cars, or at other public events.
According to the online article, The History of Mass Media in America, it states that:
“After the developed of the technology behind radio it became the fast growing and used technology in the United States. Almost every home in America had a radio in their living room. It became a focal point to family life. In fact radio was like television is today. Soap operas, story hours, sitcoms, and commercials played during prime time entertaining American families and creating a windfall of commercial revenue for advertisers and stations.”
You will often hear special guests being interviewed on radio programs. The guests are able to be interviewed and the listeners are able to hear the interview without having to travel to where the guest is having the interview. Radio is helpful because they can re-air some of their programming, whether it is an old interview or even an older concert that has been aired previously.
I have used radio on several occasions on behalf of the choral group that I was once the president of. During the interview, I was able to discuss the group and to give upcoming concert dates. I was also able to have the interviewer play some of the choral group’s music to be heard by the listeners. Radio is also helpful, as in the case of Public Broadcasting Radio, that will air concerts live from time to time.

Use of the Internet as a Social Media Technology

Use of the internet is a rapidly growing form of media. The internet is used in today’s society as a form of social networking, business networking, and influences all ages, races, and groups of people from all over the globe.
The internet has become one of the fastest ways to receive information, and uses various ways to connect to the public. This can alert the public when a crisis has come about so that measures can be taken that will keep them safe from danger.
The internet contains other social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, My Space, and several others. A Winner Never Quits and a Quitter Never Wins...

When I was a youngster growing up, I listened to what my parents told me. One of the things that I have always remembered was my dad always telling us to never say "I can't"...
He would always say to us, "Don't you ever say that you can't do something. There is no such word as "can't"...
His words have followed me to this very day. I am a person that believes that anything is possible with God. No matter how big the obstacle that you face, and no matter how impossible that dream may seem to be right now, always remmber that God is a God that can make the impossible possible...
Never give up on your dreams, and remember that a winner never quits and a quitter never wins...
Blessings to you,
Johnnie
